I once heard of a Nowhere Man
who sailed the Nowhere Sea
In his boat, the SS Nowhere
he had nowhere to be

He came across a Somewhere Girl
while sailing on for miles
The prettiest girl he'd nowhere seen
he flashed his nowhere smile

He stopped at the Island of Somewhere
"I'll stay with you" is what he said
His nowhere charm won her over
and he got to share her bed

Years passed and they were married
and they had a somewhere son
And before he even knew it
Nowhere man became someone

I wrote this a while ago and decided to give it a happier ending than originally (drifting in the nowhere sea forever). I think it came out pretty well, and I had been playing with the concept of Nowhere Man, ever since reading Cowboy Bebop volume 1.

Nowhere man. A brilliant concept for a poem. I love the ending, he has become somebody because somebody has made his life complete. It's a lovely story. I love it!

Thanx so much! I really like the much more hopeful ending I gave it.

gave up trying to figure it out but my head got lost along the way
worn out from giving it up my soul I pissed it all away
still stings these shattered nerves
pigs we get what pigs deserve
:) well played. For critique, note, if you will.
Thanx. I will.

One's worth lies in whether or not they have someone to live for other than themselves? Awesome. This poem has a dreamy, wistful feel to it, good work.

The meaning of life is to live well, die, and, in death, know a true, immortal life as an entity not unto oneself, but defined as all that which surrounds oneself.

It almost feels like a childrens song. I'm already starting to form tunes to go along with it in my head...
